Bingen, Hildegard von

Hildegard von Bingen(1098-1179), also known as Blessed Hildegard, early sacred/Church music composer. She was a composer with an extant biography from her own time. One of her works, the Ordo Virtutum, is an early example of liturgical drama with music. She wrote theorogical, botanical and medicinal texts, as well as letters, liturgical songs, poems, and the first surviving morality plays, while supervising brilliant miniature Illuminations.
