Bloch, Ernest

Ernest Bloch(1880-1959), Swiss/American composer and violinist, studied in Geneva first, then went to Brussels, Paris and Munich for further studies. H lectured at the Geneva Conservatory and conducted concerts in Lausanne. He came to US in 1916 and taught at Cleveland, New York, and San Francisco Conservatory. He composed an opera(Macbeth), Schelomo(Rhapsody for cello and orchestra) and violin pieces.
