Borodin, Alexander

Alexander Borodin(1833-1887), Russian chemist and composer, as a boy he had a good education, including piano lessons, eventually received doctorate degree in chemistry and taught chemistry at the St. Petersburg University, later met Balakirev and became more seriously engaged in music. Stasov, Russian art critic, named him as one of the "Mighty Five". He composed opera "Prince Igor" - left unfinished, later completed by Rimsky-Korsakov and Glazunov, his other works include symphonies and string quartet.
Composers are: Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Borodin(bottom right)
