Bortniansky, Dmitry

Dmitry Stephanovich Bortniansky(1751-1825), Ukrainian composer. From 1759 was a choirboy at a chapel in St. Petersburg, started to study composition. Went to Italy continuing study, he produced several operas there. Returned to St. Petersburg and he was appointed Kapellmeister at the court chapel.
