Braga, Antonio Francisco

Antonio Francisco Braga(1868-1945), Brazilian composer, studied at the Rio Conservatory first then went to Europe to continue study. At the Paris Conservatory he studied with Jules Massenet. Returned to Brazil and became a professor at the National Institute of Music and was the conductor of the Sociedade de Concertos Sinfonicos between 1908 and 1933. His music was strongly influenced by Wagner and Massenet. He composed 3 operas, symphonic poems, 2 Masses, a Te Deum, chamber and keyboard music.
