Bunting, Edward

Edward Bunting(1773-1843), Irish musician and folk music collector, at the age of seven he was sent to study music at Drogheda and at eleven he was apprenticed to William Ware, organist at St. Anne's Church in Belfast. He issued the collection of "The Ancient Music of Ireland", he hoped to promote the antiquity not only the Irish music, but also the Irish harp.He was the inspiration for the Belfast Music Festival on 1813, and founded the Belfast Music Society and the Irish Harp Society.
